PEOPLE INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER:
The process to replace Commissioner Ostlund is defined in the Montana Code Annotated. As Commissioner Ostlund was a Republican, it is the duty of the Yellowstone County Republican Central Committee to submit three candidate names to Commissioners Morse and Waters. They will select our next commissioner from that list, or request an additional three names from the Central Committee.
The preliminary timeline is for the Central Committee to receive applications by JULY 14th. A select committee from the Executive Board and Precinct Representatives will conduct interviews on JULY 16th. After a paper ballot, the list of candidates will be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners on JULY 17th.

Letter we received from Commissioner Morse
Chair of the Yellowstone County Republican Central Committee received the following letter from Commissioner Mark Morse:
To our Precinct Representatives on this email, please understand we have been given an abbreviated timeline by Commissioner Morse. We will contact you about the procedure for nominating three names. Montana Code delegates this responsibility to the Central Committee, not just the executive board.
Candidates for the vacancy must have resided in the YELLOW area for at least two years and meet all requirements as stated in MCA 7-4-2106.
